Currently a cashier at a restaurant, seeking a career change. Honor requires giving two weeks notice before departing current job; expect a two week delay between accepting a job offer and starting work.
Recent college graduate seeking entry level employment, with all the wordsmanship an English degree can provide and all the tech basics and AI wrangling a couple of free online courses can provide. Five years of work experience in retail and restaurant customer service.
In Woodstock, Georgia currently, willing and able to relocate.
My Journey
For the past five years, my ‘career goal’ was to work my way thru college without taking on debt. I succeeded. After years of taking classes in the morning and shifts in the evening, I graduated December 2025.
Unfortunately, it turns out getting an English degree in the decade they invented language models was not the most strategic choice. I’m still glad I chose to specialize in literature and history, but it’s currently the age of the ‘understand, process, and generate text’ machine, which means I have to pivot slightly.
Software has eaten the world and now artificial intelligence is eating software. This is the modern economic frontier, and I want in. Now, I’ve spent the past few years getting a degree in English with a minor in History instead of building any tech skills, which is a slight disadvantage here. Only slight, though, and I’m catching up as quickly as possible.
First prong of the ‘catch up so I can participate in the modern economy’ is taking online courses and certificates. Second prong is using Claude to build random projects, to build up my own skills in directing machine intelligences — those live on my Portfolio.
